Message from the Sheriff

We are a full service law enforcement agency serving Transylvania County in Western North Carolina. Our mission is to provide the services mandated by the North Carolina Constitution: general law enforcement, investigative, corrections, and court services to our residents and visitors.

The Transylvania County Sheriffs Office is a multi-dimensional organization having numerous responsibilities established as a result of legislated roles and community needs. These roles and needs continue to increase, and, as a result, we have experienced the most demanding year to date.

My staff and I are working diligently to provide our residents and visitors the highest level of law enforcement while keeping a close eye on costs. I feel that we are succeeding in this goal and are always seeking ways to improve efficiency without effecting the services that we provide.

We are very proud of the job we do and the success we have experienced. I attribute our success to the wonderful citizens that we have here in Transylvania County and the professional dedicated staff that I have working for me. My staff and I look forward to working with you this year and years to come to continue this success.

If you have questions or we can be of assistance to you in any way, please don't hesitate to call on my staff or me.

David A. Mahoney
